Too busy with art

I apologise for being more than a little absent this week. The exhibition has been taking up a lot of time - as has the heat.

Oh my goodness I do not like the heat. I really don't. Thankfully we have shade we can create int he garden and an air conditioner in the bedroom. Phew.

It has cooled a little now, which I am glad about.

The art exhibition has been going well. As a group we have sole 12 paintings - there are 28 artists exhibiting. I a thrilled that 4 of them were mine.

One of them I sold - in fact the first one I sold - was this one ... my absolute favourite and one I didn't want to sell. I put a high price on it so it wouldn't sell and it was the first in the exhibition to sell!! I like it so much I have painted a second version

 

 

This is another I sold and - sadly - is the one the cafe also wanted to I am painting another slightly different version of this one as well!

 

I am sure normal service will be resumed after the exhibition comes down on Tuesday. It's been busy but it has certainly been fun!

 

Today I am thankful for

• the chance to exhibit
• selling paintings - otherwise they just sit in a drawer!

 

Busy and hot and tired

I am NOT a fan of the heat and the heat when I am rushing around madly is even worse

 

However, I have sold another painting - 4 now - and lots of plagues and frames and cards so am happy - but still too hot.

Glorious Dorset Art Exhibition

The art group I attend has an exhibition on now until 1st July and it is all about our beautiful county of Dorset. I am thrilled and this year I got to do much of the organisation. It went up smoothly and it looks terrific. We have some really talented artists in the group and I hope the exhibition goes well.

Today I am thankful for

almost being at the stage where the exhibition is set up. I will, hopefully, be relieved after tomorrow.

 

 

Busy few days

The last few days have been busy busy busy.

I have been building up to the exhibition and have taken on most of the organisation this year - which I have been very happy to do. But that, alongside another great opportunity of being approached to display my paintings in a local business, all became a bit much and I had a panicky day yesterday. But today it is all sorted. Cards printed, paintings all mirror plated and wrapped and in bags ready, labels all printed for the exhibition and organized, promotions done and craft fair things for the cabinets all sorted out.

It feels good to have it done.

In between all of it I have been to the beach and we sorted out new furniture.

I was so thrilled the new garden furniture was delivered on two pallets. I LOVE pallets and can't wait to make something with them. (Well probably to direct Nigel to make what I design with them)

Successful class to be repeated

On Wednesday I taught my first art class - a complete beginners class - to members of the general public. Whilst I have taught quite a lot of art classes it has always been to my art group so I know the people. So this is a very new venture for me. It was very scary but 8 people paid to come (I only had 8 spaces so it was full) and none of them had ever touched watercolour before. We made hand painted cards and they did really really well and wanted more. I set up another three classes - one a direct repeat of this one for the people who missed out - and  another 2 (repeated) and one of the new ones is already sold out. (Sold out the same day)

I am thrilled

 

Yesterday I am fairly sure I broke a bone in my foot - one of the little bones running from my third toe. So stupid. I dropped my ipad. It is a big i pad pro and fell from the worktop end on onto my bare foot. The black bruise came out immediately - quite a considerable bruise  - and we could both feel a little lump on the bone at the base of the toe. I can walk fine, though shoes hurt, and there is no point getting it checked as they will just tape it to the next toe - which we have now done. However today the toe is quite twisted so we watch and wait. Just from a simple dropped i pad. The good news is the i pad was fine!!

I have a few more pages from my travel journal to share  ... they are out of order I'm afraid and typepad is still struggling with pictures so I'm not going to releoad them.

not damaging my ipad - just my toe

A successful class and the bravery to try it in the first place

being 10 years on, this week, since my first brush with cancer - a malignant melanoma removed 10 years ago.

 

 

bits and pieces of life

It's been quite a busy few days here.

I have been preparing for an exhibition which I am helping to run and it's been work but very enjoyable work. Plus I have been completing my own paintings for exhibition and framing them, putting mirror plates on etc. So fun but busy.

I have had two committee meetings and to add to it all I teach my first ever painting class to complete beginners tomnorrow. So busy times.

We also went to visit my wonderful godson and his wife int heir new home near Bristol which was fabulous and we are so thrilled for them both.

There has been scrapping too of course.
