Well we were supposed to be heading for an almost month long trip to America to tour the national parks of the west. COVID saw to that plan. Then we were meant to be travelling 3 days in Cornwall (no I agree ... hardly the same) but COVID and cats saw to that. So we are, like millions of others, having a staycation and we are totally fine with that.
We decided on several day trips we want to take over the coming month and took the first yesterday, heading down to Devon.
Our first port of call (pardon the pun) was Dartmouth
From there we headed to a National Trust property I had booked called Colton Dishacre and it was well worth the trip.
First we followed the advice and walked out to the promontory which had gorgeous views.
we then made a very long steady descent to the tidal pool area. The steps were very steep and my knee struggled. It hates going 'down' and to be frank, because the light was in the wrong direction, it simply wasn't worth the walk, but you live and learn eh!
We decided to do the 'steep incline slope' back to the top because after all, how bad could a steep incline be. As it happened very steep. You couldn't walk standing straight. I was shattered but the view of the house at the top was worth every moment.
From there, after a picnic lunch in a 30 mph wind, we made a very brief visit to Greenway - the summer home of Agatha Christie
Then we stopped by Paignton as I had stayed there on a holiday once when I was a little girl
and finally we breezed through Torquay before heading home
It was a lovely start to a staycation and we were ready for a day at home today before another adventure one day next week.
Today I am thankful for
- a super day out
- dry weather
- resting my poor feet!
- being back home with the fur kids
It looks as though social distancing was not too difficult to attain during this trip. I cannot fathom trying to eat in such strong winds. We are having 15 mph “breezes” here today, which is enough to rip a bite of sandwich from one’s mouth. LOL! I am quite relieved to read that there were no trips or stumbling on your outing. Do take care.
Your photos show colorful, robust flowers and tons of green foliage. You are so lucky. Our flowers are beginning to look defeated. The leaves on bushes and trees are leaning towards their autumn colors and falling by the bushel.
I am thankful for the days that scoot past 65 degrees (F) and bring blessed sunshine. I’ve got to soak up as much as possible!
