Yesterday we went for a visit to Moreton Gardens and church and it was lovely. Everywhere was very safe and socially distant (unlike today)
The gardens were beautiful and I especially loved the sunflowers
We also went round to the church which is beautiful Sadly it wasn't open due to COVID but we have been inside before. It has the most beautiful plain clear windows of etched glass, replaced after bombing in the war (it is very close to Bovington Army Camp) but it is still beautiful from the outside. There are 12 glorious windows visible from inside and out and one - the thirteenth - visible outside only in true medieval tradition which is the Judas window. It is also where T S Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) is buried.
So that was the good bit. The bad but was that I dropped my phone case (thankfully not the phone just the small shoulder bag I carry it in) out of the car and have lost it. I was sad as it was a Disney one but it could have been worse. We went into town (our first time) today to buy a replacement, which I did for the princely sum of £4 from Primark (I haven't used a handbag since March so just have this over my shoulder with my phone) but we did not like Poole. Too many people and all behaving as if there was nothing wrong and little evidence of social distancing.
The not so ugly is that we had our hair cut today. Yey! No photos yet but it is so much better and a more normal size! She managed to mend Nigel's hair (she did say it looked like a monk's cut at the back) and reduced mine a lot
Barb you asked how I did the film strips. They are a digital file you slot the photos in and then print the whole strip, photos and everything. I use them such a lot. I love them.
Two new pages with very very very old stash as per my team mates challenge for this week.
The challenge was to use papers that fell into the 'what was I thinking' category that you would never ever use.
I found quite a choice but these purple 1970's vibe papers were quite some of the worst I had so I made myself use them and once I cut some of the circles out rather than seeingt he whole awful pattern it was OK.
and these were very old K and Co papers - must be 18 years old. The photo is one I took yesterday of my little boy sat at the top of the stairs with one of his 'babies'. He was actually fast asleep when I started snapping with the toy in his mouth bless him. And yes I got one of those too.
Today I am thankful for
- not losing my phone just the bag
- being home - not having to be in town again for a while
- haircuts - so relieved to get it cut - and very safe. It is a fiend who has cut my hair for the last 40 years (she is a proper hairdresser!)
I must admit, living only an hour and a half from Minneapolis for the last 14 years, and we have NEVER seen the spoon bridge. We used to go to the Mall of America once a year to visit the Archivers scrapbook store. That store was closed down several years ago. We also went to the Metrodome to see a Twins game at the request of our visiting son--so you can figure how long ago that was. Now we only go up once a year to see one of Steve's doctors. We have never taken the time to just go to the city to explore. I have heard they have a wonderful Renaissance Fair every fall. Chances are it may be canceled for this year. Darn that virus!
I loved the K & Co booklets that were produced with fabulous theme pages. I miss those kinds of items--and awesome scrapbooking stores. Of course, I have so much stash. I shouldn't be wishful. I have enough to last til the year 2120! :-D :-D :-D Fiki's special page is too adorable!
