Well time flies when you are in lockdown. Actually I am quite serious. I don't know where the day goes to be honest. Most days we wake around 7.30 but then we lounge in bed after our porridge, reading the paper and doing a round of the word game we love. Then by the time we are up, showered, sorted and have been for our daily walk it is almost time for lunch. I think we are settling in to the pace of doing not very much at all.
Yesterday was our wedding anniversary - 34 years and closer than ever.
Photo of us THEN
and NOW
Nigel sorted out an amazing anniversary - he staged Garden Olympics, just for we two as we are mad enough to do it.
We don't have kids so have no proper outdoor toys. but he improvised. We even had a trophy table and podium with real prizes.
We had sock bowls (Who can get their balled up sock closest to the target)
Throw the ball into the bucket from varying distances
Make a paper airplane and see which goes the furthest (possibly better to ignore that one as I don't think I knew how to make an airplane but it did give Nigel one of the best laughs ever when he saw my abomination which didn't so much fly as plummet to the ground.)
Then we had catch the ball in the sawn off bottle
Sock skittles (same bottles with different value targets
Followed by 9 hole golf with a club he made from the pressure washer jet and duct tape (he is very inventive.
The last game may have been a step too far. It was throw the hammer but it was a heavy claw hammer and it went well until I hit the fence at speed .... oops.
Nigel won overall and was awarded the first prize which was an old silver platter and three - yes three - toilet rolls. A first prize worthy of winning and which trumped my second prize of a wooden spoon and bottle of champagne. It was such fun.
He even did a chocolate hunt round the house for me with coded clues.
And yes - I do know how lucky I am. I am truly blessed and that is why I am living in utter fear of this virus. Not if I get it. If I get it I get it, but I fear Nigel getting it. He is male, he has high blood pressure and he is in his 60's. All three of those groups seem to have a higher incidence of complications. So yes, I am terrified of it because it might affect Nigel.
There has been scrapping. It looks pretty. It seems it will allow that to be posted now
Kira checking out my newly finished blanket
and waiting for her dinner ... seriously - we get this every night
and the oldest continuously serving McDonalds int he world in Downey California.
I hope you all had a good Easter - that you managed to have a nice time despite not being able to see others you love. I hope you are all staying safe and well.
Today I am thankful for
a fabulous wedding anniversary
a wonderful partner in life who 'gets' the same things I do
someone to laugh with
continued good health and NOT taking it for granted
NOT so thankful for Typepad at the moment.
Congratulations you two! What a treat to have Easter and your anniversary on the same day!! The Leahy Olympiad looked like a ton of fun. The grand prize is worth a fortune these days too - LOL. I am happy for you both.
Hugs from Florida,
Your friend,
Mike

Congratulations on THIRTY-FOUR years! How splendid. May I wish you many more happy, healthy years to come.
Nigel is so tremendously creative. I wonder how long it took him to devise the ideas and put them into play. I loved his prize choices.
I can't wait to see what he comes up with for your 35th anniversary! I don't know if he can top #34 unless, of course, he takes you to the REAL Olympics in 2021 :-)
I always love to see your super great layouts about your furbabies. Kira definitely has put her "stamp of approval" on your afghan :-D
