Dear me - a new month and I appear to have a new project.
I am slowing down on my scrapping after last month but have started a traveller's notebook/holiday journal.
When we go on our next trip I want to keep a sketch book random thoughts type journal. I love my painting but I am a terribly slow painter as I get bogged down in the details and spend ages on the really small stuff. I want to learn to do quick sketchy type sketches with no necessarily accurate details, sketchy lines and minimal colour. So the plan is to do that in my next holiday journal. The trouble is I know I will be rubbish at it so I need to have a dummy run. Consequently, I have bought a traveller's notebook and am doing a quick sketchy journal of our last trip - fabulous fall.
I might have made an error as I decided to use my lovely posh fountain pen for the journalling but that always has violet ink in it - so violet it is. Not sure I like it but I am committed now.
This is what I have made so far - and bear in mind the point of the sketches is to be - well sketchy - not perfect little paintings (I am finding it really hard and have challenged myself to spend no more than 10 minutes on any sketch from start to finish. )
I think I am enjoying it but it is early days.
And just in case you are missing the scrapping, here is a digital page I made today using Colour my World by Chunlin Designs
The kit is FREE - yes that's tight - FREE - as part of the new monthly mojo challenges over at PBP. You can find the mojo forum for June here and the thread for the FREE mini kit to play with HERE
If you play along with the challenges (and there is a free template challenge and a free mystery box kit too) you can win yourself additional freebies. Go check it out - it is a lot of fun.
And because it would be rude not to have a paper page too - this is another of my May challenge pages.
Today I am thankful for
- my friend Barb - the miles may separate us but we keep in touch and she sent me a great article yesterday about crafting being therapy - it so is!
- A productive morning at work
- new challenges
Oh, how sweet of you to mention me. I truly feel I am the fortunate one for having YOUR friendship!
The sketch journal has a great start. Even rough drawings are amazing. What a God-given talent you have.
Can't wait to see more!
