New Year's Eve - I guess it is the one day of the year can be filled with hope or regret more than any other.
It is a time people either love or hate and I guess it depends on what the past year has been like.
I have had my share of years where I have been so pleased to see them go and have a new, fresh start sprinkled lavishly with hope.
I have also been blessed to have many years where I have looked back, thinking what an amazing year I have had.
This year I am looking back with love. My first full year as a retiree - albeit a very young retiree!! A year where I truly have felt I don't know how I had time to work and to work 14 hour days over and over. My days are full and busy - because sometimes doing nothing is busy and fulfilling. Nigel works just two days a week and I can often help him with work and we have enjoyed real quality time together. God has been good with our health too. We had a couple of rocky years but this year, praise be, we have been healthy - let's forget the incident of the black boot of shame!
It was 'the year of the house' with renovations that didn't always go smoothly but they are done now.
I have been browsing a folder where I keep just quick instapictures to record days and it has been fun to go back over the year. I love that the images give the date and the temperature too

So we are ready to say farewell to 2017 and look forward to 2018 with whatever opportunities it brings and to more new adventures together.
The decorations are down, the house is cleaned, we even have brand new bedding on including a new duvet.
I wish you all a happy new year and I hope that for those of you who have worries and concerns, health issues, financial issues, loneliness issues that you find comfort and support and the strength to cope with whatever life throws at you. I wish you a 2018 filled with health and happiness, love and laughter, but remember, if there were no rain we would never see a rainbow.
Today I am thankful for ...
The whole darned year - all of it. The lessons I have learned (some of them hard) , the people I have met and spent time with, the new things I have experienced, the places I have visited, the home we have created, the fur babies we nurture and, most of all, for my wonderful soul mate Nigel.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Every year I get excited to see what the new year will bring-- some years fun and adventure, other years difficulties and challenges, but in all cases, it's never a dull moment.
I am thankful for this wonderful site where we can visit and share and read about Nigel and your amazing experiences. :-D :-D :-D
See you in 2018! <3
