Today has been lovely in every sense.
The weather has been glorious again - really sunny and warm.
I met a friend for coffee and a catch up which was lovely, then I dashed home, ditched the car and walked to art. What a beautiful day for walking and my steps are mega today.
I do enjoy the art classes. The people are lovely and friendly and it is just nice and easy.
I had done some art work at home yesterday for the on line course I signed up to. I confess I am ashamed that I am only on lesson two. I just haven't had time to do any more. How silly is that. I am retired and do nothing -apparently - and yet I am always busy.
Anyway, lesson 2 was to draw a boot. I did have the handicap of a Kira and a Fiki drawing it and they kept moving it which was a challenge in itself.
This was my attempt
and today I drew Fiki - from a photo obviously. The cat who cannot keep still would NOT make a good artist's model.
The trouble is, when you draw a boot it just has to look like a boot. When you draw an elephant it just has to look like an elephant etc. When you draw a beloved family member it has to look like them and I confess to not being quite ready for this step yet LOL.
It is recognisable as Fiki but it is not great. In fairness though, the angle of the picture made one eye seem smaller - truly. So that isn't just an error
Then I had a lovely long walk home - still in sunshine.
All in all a great day for all sorts of reasons.
Today I am thankful for
- a lovely day
- companionship
- catch up with a friend
- sunshine
- the weekend - starts on Thursday - lasts until the end of Tuesday!
Oh Karen, I think your drawings are brilliant! You certainly have a talent, you were saying that you had been advised not to attempt drawing fur as it was too difficult, and I had made the comment that I felt there should not be anything you shouldn't try.that is how you improve .when I first saw the boot drawing I thought that was great, then Next the cat, you should be feeling really proud of them.
when I take a look at the drawing I had done of our cat,
I know I will need lots more practice, but as I said before,I will just concentrate on his head.its Great that you are enjoying your retirement doing things that make you happy.

Amazing drawings--so finely detailed. I just don't have the patience for such a thing. You have a wonderful talent, Karen! <3
