« spring is springing | Main | Very thrilled - it was worth it »

I'm a founder member of Hamilton and District U3A and we have 170 members after starting 6 years ago. I am the Craft Group organiser and Book Group organiser for one of our 3 book groups. I'm sure you will enjoy being members. We both volunteer with a charity which helps older people, my DH is the founding chairperson of Hamilton Men's Shed and I am very involved with an upcycling project which is very close to my heart. I have met lots of new people and feel I am giving something back in my community after doing the same job as you for the last 10 years of my working life. I retired at 57 with a reduced pension and got a life. I am happier, healthier and fulfilled with our much less stressful life. The loss of a good salary is worrying to begin with but the freedom to do as you please outweighs that many times over. You are right to do nothing that commits you for a good few months-after that you can see what direction you will take. Good luck over the next few months as you come to the end of one part of your life and look forward to the rest of it with Nigel.

You are wise to take time for just you and Nigel to relax, unwind, and get your retirement "bearings" for several months. The realization of retirement doesn't hit you all at once, so it is nice to take your time and not commit to things which may not fulfill you.
I'm very thankful to hear your nose surgery shows no cancer. I know it is a great relief to you.
Have a good up-coming week!
