So the bad knee is as bad as ever but the new twist today - t'other knee is acting up and I obviously slept badly as the back joined the party
I know getting old is better than the alternative but i swear bits are going to start dropping off soon!
One of the things I get to do as part of my job - and a part I love - is vet new books from the library. I check those for older children to see if they are suitable - in every sense of the word. Occassionally you come across a smashing book and I did yesterday.
I read The Honest Truth by Dan Gemeinhart
It was a very well crafted book and a challenging read in the topic it covered. About a boy called Mark who has cancer, it is harrowing and uplifting.
Told in the first person, Mark decides, when his cancer returns, he cannot face more treatment and so, knowing his days are numbered, he decides rather than submit himself to more treatment he will embark upon an epic journey to fulfill an ambition to climb Mount Rainier with just his dog for companionship. The story sees him go through many trials and every other chapter is told int he voice of his friend back home Jessie. It is a tale of courage, determination, loyalty and friendship and if you have a child over the age of about 10 it is a cracking read.
I don't feel quite so positive about the new Jacqueline Wilson I am tackling tonight!
I do have new scrapping to share today though.
This was a page made for Pickleberrypop and was made for a mojo challenge
