The de-clutter mood doesn't very often take me - so when it does I make the most of it.
I have had a major sort out of two 'dumping cupboards' today and thrown bags of stuff out. I will aim to do at least one cupboard every day - I am a terrible hoarder and need to start thinning out badly.
I did, however, find time to scrap. I made this page using Surf Sun Sand and the 4th collection by Lara's Digi world
Florida has so much water and so many lakes and Walt Disney World is no exception. One of the things we always like to do it take some boat trips. They are free and pretty cool. The pictures are taken when we were on one of our favourite rides from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.
Today I am thankful for
- the courage to throw away! Long may it continue
- A new CD Nigel bought me today
and now - feel free to ignore - another holiday day.
Thursday 16th July
We woke to me feeling better and a glorious bright morning so we took the walk across to breakfast. Many people complain the resort is so big. It is a HUGE resort with 2200 rooms, though you are totally unaware of this when you stay. It is split into 6 villages, Aruba, Jamaica, Trindad North, Trinidad South, Barbados and Martinique and each village has its own pool.
This is our pool - you can only see a part of it in the picture I am afraid.
Each village has 6 two story building and to be honest you rarely see people around other than at Port Royale – the Centre Town where the food and the shops and the big pool is. We will often be the only people at our village pool and the landscaping everywhere, the beach, the sand, the palm trees etc just make is so beautiful.
We have been and seen pretty much every other resort and I wouldn’t stay in any of them other than Wilderness Lodge. The Caribbean Beach is a moderate resort, cheaper than many and yet we totally adore it. I hope the photos show you why.
This is the main pool and the patio by the bar and restaurants ... busy aint it!!!
This is our table where we have sat so often - it always seems to be empty - ready for us.
We then had a couple of hours by the pool – pretty much alone – and then dressed and went to Celebration. We like to go visit Celebration each year to see how it is developing and soak up the small town America feel. As Disney’s own town it is a bit marmite – you love it or hate it. We love it. It reminds us in many ways of our own Dorset version – equally unreal and bizarre – Poundbury.
We bought a frap (of course it has a Starbucks … it’s a perfect town) and then went and sat on two rockers overlooking the lake. Before long a lady and her son joined us and we chatted to her for almost an hour. She had taken her kids out of school when they were younger and spent a whole year making sure they visited every state. It was lovely just sat there and chatting – and she even took a photo of us for us!
On the way out we ventured up the 192 and we saw the possibility of a dream come true. Now please don’t think we always set our sights low, but some of our dreams are simple. As lifelong Dallas fans (marmite again) we watched Cliff Barnes eat Chinese takeout food in the little boxes for years and had always wanted to try that. In the UK our Chinese takeaway comes in re-heatable plastic containers with lids. We saw a Panda Express. Never been to one before – but you can bet your life we will go again. I figured that as it was an express they would do takeaway in little boxes. They sure did. We had such a laugh with the lady who served us – and she was quite happy to give us our food in take out boxes even though we were eating in – and a spare box to take away. The orange chicken we shared was delicious too. A dream fulfilled.
We got stuck in an amazing rainstorm in the carpark of Walmart (our rule is never pass a Walmart by) and sat and waited out the storm.
On the way back into Disney we visited the Art of Animation as we had never been there before and we like to check out all of the resorts. Whilst the artwork in the lobby was nice the resort did not appeal to us in the slightest. None of the beautiful landscaping there!
We opted for Wolfgang Puck for dinner again and had a relaxed evening at the resort. A wonderful day again and we never went near a theme park.
I love to declutter! But I can rarely talk myself into it! LOL!! The best thing about vacations is to know when to just kick back and relax. So often, there is so much to see and to do that there is no down time. And what better place to do it than in your most favorite place in the world :-)
