Remembrance Sunday - and a very significant one. 100 years since the start of the First World War. 100 years after the start of the war to end all wars. The war that sadly did not end all wars.
Nigel and I sat in silence at one of our favourite places in the world at 11 am today. We observed the two minutes silence in tribute to all of those who lost their lives in war overlooking Poole Harbour. The water lit by a November sun and as still as a mirror.
Fitting that the water was reflecting so well at this time of national reflection.
We prayed that people across the world would come to see the futility of conflict and learn to live in harmony and love each other.
I scrapped a little today and learnt a new technique - how to make a sketch.
I have by no means perfected it but it is always cool to learn something new.
The picture is the ever gorgeous Alice and I used Inspired by you by Fanette Designs
Today I am thankful for
- the fact so many made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy the freedom we so easily take for granted today
- thankful that Nigel travelled so far so safely
And finally pictures of my father and grandfather who both saw active service, served their country and returned home when so many didn't.
A beautiful tribute today, Karen.
You have every right to be so proud of your father and grandfather, as they lived and fought through unimaginable horror.
I know you have made many wonderful pages about their service to your nation over the years.
They will not be forgotten.
