Miniature Magic and a bonus

Well - we have had quite a day and it has been brilliant.

We set off at 7 am this morning headed for Birmingham. We were not sure we would make it.

We had heard the weather was awful and due to be really awful. We wouldn't have worried but with poor people stuck on snow for 11 hours last week when only taking short journeys we decided to be as snow proof as possible.
We had a duvet, a shovel, salt grit, spare coats, food and water and we headed off north. It was fine. There was some pretty heavy snow on the way and the motorway lost its third lane at several points but actually, considering the amount of snow the roads were remarkable. We saw lots of snow ploughs and it was bitterly cold when we parked and a bit slippy underfoot but we arrived at the NEC in brilliant time.

The reason .... miniatura - a miniature show. We hadn't been for several years and went with a shopping list. We are doing the doll house kitchen and needed wall and floor covering, hall floor covering, gravel for ourside plus bits and pieces for the kitchen and the lights. We did really well and got all we needed and so can do the kitchen this holiday. It was lovely to look around and enjoy a hobby we dont spend so much time on these days.

Every room in the doll house has a cat and we fell in love with this one

tiny and perfect

 

 

and we do have a nursery to do one day and so couldn't resist this rocking horse

which works and everything

 

and when I got home and unpacked them all there was this cabinet I had liked which Nigel had gone back and bought me as a surprise. It is beautifully made and all lined and everything

 

we also got all the flooring and wall coverings we needed and some curtains.

And then - Oh yes there is more - it turned out the Hobbycraft show was also on. I went in whilst Nigel went round the miniatures again and I confess I was a bit overawed by it all. I never get to see scrap stuff in real life much and whilst it was largely card making  (and then halls of sewing and knitting I didn't even go in) it was all a bit much. Plus I was pretty broke by then too,

I did see David and Brenda at Craft Obsessions and I bought some chipboard bits, some teeny stamps and a die but I was tired, penniless and daunted.

It was an amazing day out and we are safely back home.

• a very generous husband, generous with time and money

Sounds like a perfect day--even with the snow. You are very brave, as Steve and I don't venture out in bad weather.
I love miniatures-- even have a dollhouse. Steve set it up for me about the third year we were married. I bought a few pieces of furniture, some lovely electric lights, and roofing. That's as far as it got. Now the shell of the house stores some scrapbook supplies. :-D
The accessories you purchased are darling. I especially like the kitty.
