Whilst I was at work some little elves striaght from the North Pole came and made magic happen at home.
I actually think they were remarkably similar to Nigel - but I can't be sure.
Anyway - magic has happened and Christmas has arrived.
The outside lights are all up and ready to go on 1st december, the Christmas wreaths are up, the Christmassy decorations (like the giant nutcrackers, the lit parcels, the countdown santa etc) are all in place and it is all feeling very festive. I am a lucky girl to come home and find this all done.
And, shopping done, laundry done and house cleaned throughout. Lucky indeed. Now we can have a weekend just enjoying it all.
I am on a real high today as I got Gallery Standout - which I have never ever got before - over at Digishoptalk. I am beyond thrilled and - here is the real wow, I got it twice for two different pages.
Today I would like to share the first as it is a page made with Christmas Memories that I shared yesterday.
It is a very grungy snow page featuring two photos taken in 2010. The photo forming the image at the back was taken out of the back balcony over the heath when the sun lit up the snow. The snowman was the snowman we made and were so proud of.
I love the collection Dawn made, I love the snow and the snowman and I absolutely love that I got GSO for it.
I am starting the weekend on such a high.
Today I am thankful for
- the opportunity to work with my hobby that I love so much and to get the chance to use such awesome supplies.
- Nigel making Christmas come
- Friday evening - a whole weekend stretching out ahead of us.
and here is my page a day calendar page and something Nigel and I try to live by and do very very often.
I was helping my sister to re-cover her sofa and had underestimated the amount of upholstery fabric we needed again. The last time, I’d misjudged the fabric for the back cushions by a half yard. I’d
telephoned Joan at the fabric store to see if she would check the remnant room. Now I’d run short on the checked fabric I was using for the cording. I only needed a quarter yard, but without it, her sofa wouldn’t have the look we wanted.
“We just cut the last of that bolt,” Joan said, “but I’m sure there was a good quarter yard left. Let me check for you.” She returned to the phone with good news and offered to put the fabric in the mail so I wouldn’t have to drive to the store. “There’s no charge,” she assured me. “It was such a small amount, they were going to toss it.”
Let her supervisor know what a good employee she has. The thought seemed to come out of nowhere, but it felt like the most important thing in the world, far more crucial than getting the fabric I needed. Yet what difference could a few words possibly make?
“Could I speak with the manager?” I asked confidently.
“Sure,” Joan answered, but there was panic in her voice.
“I just wanted you to know how helpful Joan has been to me.” I told the manager. “She’s an absolute joy.”
I didn’t think much of my comment until I read the note from Joan that was pinned to the fabric when it
arrived in the mail. “I can’t thank you enough for the kind words. Work has been tense lately, and a few days ago a customer misunderstood something I said. Your words really smoothed things over for me.”

Congratulations on GSO. :-) How exciting!
Your man is a keeper :-D How wonderful to have the entire weekend open and free. Enjoy!
