I have the final pages of my Versailles book to share today.
I have long been fascinated and intrugued by Marie Antoinette and so the place I most wanted to visit was the Petit Triarnon and the Hamlet.
The Petit Triarnon was beautiful. Whilst still obviously very grand, it was so much simpler than the palace and was beautifully furnished. I loved the inside and could imagine a Queen enjoying being there so clearly.
The gardens were less formal and the walk down to the Hamlet was through long grass, meadows and fields. there were ponds and streams and the noise of the frogs (or they could have been toads) was deafening.
The gorgeous Temple of Love was stunning.
We hadn't realised the Hamlet would be as photogenic as it was. The sunshine was perfect, it was very quiet and it was just wonderful. We couldn't get enough of it.
So there it is - a completed record of our trip to Versailles. Somewhere I had wanted to visit for at least the last 25 years.
