I have had such fun today - I really have. It has almost - but not quite - made me forget I am feeling rotten. i have some sort of indfection and my ear is closed up, my throat is agony, my face and head on the same side feel numb and tender and I just feel poo, but i still had a nice day.
we left early for castle Point and I had several things I wanted to get.
Nij needed a new shirt and black trousers. Check.
I wanted a black cardigan (and got a bargain at £6) check and a pair of boots (another bargain at £30 for full length knee high leather boots) I haven't had knee high boots since I have been about 12 as my legs have always been too fat - so it was a hug thrill.
What wasn't on the list however, was an amazing dress. I bought a dress that I am not quite sure about but it is very very pretty. the dress is black and crocheted and covered in tassles - like a sort of 1920's flapper dress. It is lovely and swishy but the worry is that it is shorter than I have ever worn and is above the knee. So not sure about it yet.
I have been scrapping this afternoon, but they are 5210 pages I can't share yet.
I canshare these, though. two more pages made with Dawn's meow kit.
My little monsters fast asleep - when they are at their cutest.
And this one
Today my quote it
- a swishy wishy dress I may decide to keep if I am brave enough
I want to share this e mail from Anita as I think it is lovely.
A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might this contain?", the mouse wondered. The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it." The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray.. Be assured you are in my prayers." The mouse turned to the cow and said, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose." So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap . . . Alone. . . That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it. It was a venomous snake whose tail was caught in the trap. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital. When she returned home she still had a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup. So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient: But his wife's sickness continued. Friends and neighbours came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig. But, alas, the farmer's wife did not get well... She died. So many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them for the funeral luncheon. And the mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness. So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and you think it doesn't concern you, remember --- When one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another. |
I came across a quote from Shane Claiborne yesterday. "All around you people will be tiptoeing through life just to arrive at death safely. But dear children, do not tiptoe. Run, hop, skip or dance, just don't tiptoe."
I would like to lovingly encourage you to "dance" in your dress. Dare to do it. It will be exhilarating and will fill your heart with joy. Don't worry about "too short" -- just enjoy it.

Hum... a story to make you think...
Oooh, that dress sounds fantastic! If you have legs that can wear knee-high boots, then you'll look good in a knee-length dress too! Wear it Karen, with some of those lovely ziggy-zag patterned tights that are all trendy right now... or if you feel a bit shy, buy some good quality black opaque ones - either silky or matt - which will set it off very well, without drawing too much attention to your pins!
