At the weekend I managed to do some serious paper scrapping as well as doing some work. I love it whent he weekend ends up a balance.
I thought I would share another of the pages I made at the weekend.
This was another challenge - this time to use something old, something blue, something borrowed and something blue - and a silver sixpence for the shoe.
The old comes in several parts.
First and foremost it is an old picture. A very old picture. A photo an incredible 31 years old. How the heck has that happened and what ever became of that slim young girl with the massive glasses and the fluffy hair!
Secondly the papers are very old - they are an old Cosmo Cricket set that I loved so much I was scared to use them. The result is, of course, they are incredibly dated - but they work for an incredibly dated photo I guess.
The something blue is the cardstock and the pain effects on the paper. It is a greeny blue but it is blue
The new is the ribbon in the centre of the cardstock button ... well it is newish. I don't really buy a lot of new stash these days.
The something borrowed is the fact itis a pinterest scraplift - well an adapted scraplift.
The silver is a little silver paper clip I have had since about 2003 when I started scrapping I guess.
The story behind the page is about it being the start of a life-long love affair.
The picture was taken on a day trip to Rockport when we were staying with Nigel's brother. It was my first ever trip to America - a place I had always wanted to go to but never dreamed I would get to visit. I had been going out with Nigel for not quite two months (though I had known him for 8 years) when he suggested we go to America ... with just three days notice. Long story - but it was a 'now or never' kind of deal. No passport, no visa, no money. OK - why not! Three days to accomplish an awful lot and suddenly I found myself in the country of my dreams.
Thirty years on, almost 28 years married and we have visited 30 of the 50 states and been blessed to travel to America dozens of times. The young naive girl in the photo had no idea!
Today I am thankful for
- being able to set blog posts ahead of time because no - I wouldn't be able to blog today.
- the oppotunity to travel to America .... a lot
- Nigel and our life-long romance
