Barb in AK

Today I was fascinated with birds, too. Not as traumatic an event as yours fortunately. I saw two different kinds of woodpeckers in the tree behind my house. There was a yellow-bellied sapsucker: http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/584/overview/Yellow-bellied_Sapsucker.aspx
and white-breasted nuthatch: http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/362/overview/White-breasted_Nuthatch.aspx

We really don't like the woodpeckers near our house, as they love to peck at our cedar siding :-( , but they are amazing to watch. I tried to take photos of them, but they were very jumpy (or hoppy) and quick. They hopped around the tree branches and flitted away before I could even focus! Oh well. The nuthatches will be around all winter, but I'm sure the sapsuckers were trying to fatten up before heading south.

Sorry you lost one of your pigeons. Always so tragic to see dead animals, especially after an attack or being hit by a vehicle :'(

Thanks for sharing your layout. When you use a drop shadow, how many px do you use? Your layering looks so realistic.
