We had heard that Bournemouth were having a living nativity parade a little while ago and so always planned to go down today.
It sounded magical ......It wasn't quite what we expected.
It said there would be sheep and donkeys and a parade all through the pedestrianised shopping area at 3 pm. We were down in good time and no sign of anything except some rather bizarre people wearing boxes so they looked like presents.
However, eventually we spotted three camels ... well let's face it they are rather hard to miss and you don't see many of them in the centre of town ... and so we followed them. They gathered at the triangle in Bournemouth and it was quite hard to get any photos where there were not high vis jackets to 'add' to the view.
Bournemouth appears not to have their own town crier as they borrowed 'ours' from Poole to open the proceedings and then the parade with Mary and Joseph, two donkeys (an addition to the biblical version I know!) three camels bearing very young but presumably wise men and an Angel Gabriel on stilts. Oh and the present people and a large foam star! However there were also people singing carols which made it rather nicer.
I am still glad we went as it was fun to see. Perhaps last year's event when the coca cola lorry was in town was a little more 'staged' though.
Anyway, a different performance for today's JYC
and I have a new page to share as well, made a little while ago ... another for the almost complete Florida 2012 album
Today I am thankful for
- Unique opportunities of all kinds
- a very relaxed sort of Sunday
