We had a fabulous evening yesterday at Poole Speedway's Christmas evening where, once again, Matt treated everyone so beautifully to a really fab Christmas celebration.
It was the second year at the Springfield Country Hotel and Spa and we decided to stay this year, which was lovely.
The dinner was super - a real Christmas feast, the company was excellent, the wine flowed very freely and it was a great evening. Staying also meant I could drift off to bed and leave Nigel happily chatting the night away.
We were the only people in eveidence at breakfast though. Seems like everyone else was shattered or a little worse for wear. We, however, had a leisurely lie in - for us - and were down in the dining room by 8.00 and had a superb breakfast which set us up for the day.
We headed off up to the view point at the top of the hill as it was such a gorgeous morning - freezing but bright and beautiful
Home to sort the fur babies out and then off shopping.
All in all a fabulous Sunday.
And on to my photo of the day and my JYC page for today.
I know I am out of kilter as this is my second and should be my first - IYSWIM - but I have stuck to the prompt for today, which was to think about things that you liked as preparation when you were a child and reflect on that.
One of the things I used to love was my advent calendar. They didn't have chocolate advent calendars in those days ... children were just happy with the thrill of opening little paper doors and seeing the pictures behind each one. And the last one was always amazing with what was usually a double door and always revealled the nativity.
I STILL love the day when the advent calendars start. We have our advent house that featured yesterday and a baking tray advent calendar with pictures of the cats for each day with little magnets.
However, we live in a technological age and I have a computer advent calendar (and aps on my phone too but that is a whole other story for another day)
The calendar is a Jaqueline Lawson and the first one was a gift from a friend in 2010. It was one of those totally unexpected things that really brightened my day and as a result of that I bought the new one for 2011 (London) and the new one this year for 2012 (The alpine village). They are so cute and often have games to play and I am childishly pleased with them. Today Nigel and I built a snowman in the alpine village and then decorated a Christmas tree int he London calendar.
So my JYC page today is the on line advent calendar and the close up is of our tree in the windoww.
Today I am thankful for
- a lovely night away
- a great christmas party
- technology
- gifts from friends that keep on giving
Happy Advent everyone x
