Well - we had two Christmas cards today. Not THAT unusual I guess and one of them was from a family member abroad that often arrives late (though usually before 10th January)
However the other was just too funny and I have to use it as my photo of the day.
The next door neighbour found it in his garden. It had obviously dropped out of Mr Posties bag or something and blown away and then been nicely nibbled. It has been wet, dirtied and jolly well nibbled and do you know what - the card inside was still fine. (I have deleted the address to post on here but it was perfectly legible - not smudged at all!
So a very belated thank you Jemma - it arrived here in good time but took a little detour over the holiday period, spreading good will and possibly a bit of nesting material with the little creatures outside!
It did make me giggle.
Wish the fridge had made me giggle. I kept saying it wasn't very cold and in the end Nij bought a fridge thermometer and sure enough 10 degrees is not very cold!
So the fridge repair man is coming and we will see how that works out! Meanwhile I will throw a load of stuff out!
I have a new page to share today and as it is the 10th it is another of my 10 pages. This time my favourite 10 hotels I have ever stayed in
The photos are of my top 3 - number 1 The Caribbean Beach resort and YES - off there again this year. The other two are the Venetian in Vegas and the Hyatt at Newport Beach - all of them like home from home as we keep on going back.
I also had a go at the Technique Tuesday challenge on UKS which was making cracked glass type embellies. I am not keen on what I created but at least it is a new technique I have learnt.
The panel will go ona card and this dragonfly will be an embellishment on a page. You can't really see the cracks, but I promise they are there.
Today I am thankful for
- Little things that make you smile
- Feeling better
- The fact that we sometimes need the fridges in our lives to go wrong so we appreciate how lucky we are to have these everyday appliances and not take them for granted.
My 1000 places calendar today is The Grand casino at Monte Carlo - now that I would love to say and sadly I had the chance to see it ona free trip all expenses paid to the Monte Carlo Grand Prix a few years ago but couldn't go as I couldn't have the day off from school.
Yesterday's was the Northern Lights, another sight I would love to see, especially since we saw Joanna Lumley's amazing programme on it.
My one minute Daily Devotion calendar today is thought provoking. I am not sure I could have left the store actually, but a good lesson there.
At a store that carries everything imaginable for the bedroom, bathroom, and beyond, my husband, daughter, and I were on a mission to find a feather comforter. I opened the plastic covers and laid out each one for so long that my family finally went in search of something more interesting.
As I zipped one open, I felt a prick on my finger. It wasn’t bad enough to interrupt my search, but a few minutes later I noticed a red smear there. Oh dear, it’s probably on a comforter, too, I thought. I went back to the last one I’d looked at and, sure enough, there it was: my blood on a white comforter that I didn’t want to buy. So, what did I do? Jammed it back on the shelf, left the store with my family, and tried to put it out of my mind.
But for the next two hours, I could think of nothing else. I couldn’t concentrate on the book I was trying to read or focus on the television show my husband was watching. Instead, a movie of someone at the store watching me on a security camera played repeatedly in my head.
Finally, I spilled everything to my husband. “I want to go buy it,” I said.
He thought for a second and then offered wisely, “Why don’t you call the manager?”
As I dug in my purse for my credit card, I got the manager on the phone and related the whole story. But instead of asking for my card number he kindly said, “It’s no problem, ma’am. I’ll take care of it.” I hung up the phone, feeling a great deal of gratitude and even a little weepy with the joy of an unburdened heart.

Oh My on Jemma's Christmas card, looks to me like slug & snails have been at it.
